I was sprawled on my bed searching cursorily through the internet for an ideal location for an outdoor mini event. My birthday was two weeks away and I had plans of celebrating it with few family and friends. A particular location appeared top three on my search list, the first was its website, the second was images from its Facebook page and the third was a Youtube video of an event held in it. I went through the website, images and videos on the social media handles and was impressed, I quickly put a call across to make a reservation using the contact information made available. Their conspicuous online presence was difficult to ignore and their content was able to convert me to a customer. This scenario buttresses why having an online presence is important.

Online presence simply means how easy it is to find a business online. It has become highly necessary for businesses to increase their customer reach, visibility, reputation and credibility by improving their online presence.

In this article, we have highlighted five proven ways of improving and strengthening your business online presence:

  1. Optimize your website for mobile: It is needless to say that if your business has to cling a space online, a website is required. Beyond having a functional website, it should also be optimized for mobile. This is because a greater percentage of internet users search from their mobile devices than their desktops. By having them feature your business, your products and services are exposed to a good number of their followers and fans online, who based on trust and their recommendation will likely make the decision to make a purchase. Also, it would make your business trend, thus strengthening your online presence.

These steps put together will help you to build a strong online presence, increase your business visibility and strengthen your reputation. These strategies may not produce immediate results but when done consistently over time, they begin to pay off by increasing your sales and business awareness.
